Research and Analysis of Silicon Carbide Lens

Silicon carbide material is the ideal material for silicon carbide lens with various high performance and special environmental application because of its low thermal expansion, high strength reflection and stable size, it gradually takes traditional material’s place for using in optical field.

In order to develop the processing research of silicon carbide optical lens, various silicon carbide material and its targeted application is introduced, it summarizes finish machining technology that can be used for silicon carbide lens and acquires the ways to get lens surface with high quality, it also points out the future development direction of silicon carbide lens process.

The application of space mirror is wide increasingly, how to choose material with best comprehensive performance and structure needs to be solved firstly for producing lens. Therefore, we designed lens with different material and weight loss structure and simulated the influence from lens natural frequency, gravity, temperature field and light source lens shape by the finite-element method and programming. By comparing the results, we made sure the suitable occasion of optical glass, beryllium and silicon carbide lens material and weight loss structure of optimized lens. The calculation result shows that performance of beryllium lens is the best, but its virulence should also be taken into consideration, in the condition of low temperature and light irradiation, performance of silicon carbide lens is the best.
